Science Fiction's Take on the Paranormal

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This panel will be a discussion on various aspects of the paranormal and how science fiction appropriates the paranormal in various movies and television programs.
The paranormal is widely portrayed in science fiction, with the force ghosts of Star Wars and the vampire clouds of Star Trek being two very obvious examples we can discuss in relation to actual reported paranormal phenomena.
Discussion will also include a concept known as the 'Singularity', or the eventual ability for humans to upload their consciousness to an immortal and intangible virtual existence. Using this concept, one can make a comparison with science fiction's depictions of human interaction with uploaded minds and reported contact with ghosts and messages from the other side.
